Terminology
Occasio is an online platform designed to help organisations capture, reference, and exchange qualitative Insights from verifiable Sources.
An insight is a “unit of value” extracted from a source – such as a specific perspective, powerful quote, or core idea.
A source is the formal anchor that gives your insights credibility and traceability.
Sources can be published materials, live interactions, and internal assets – such as a paper, presentation, or meeting minutes.
Occasio gains value over time as insights compound into a proprietary knowledge base: Your Personal or Group Library.
The Library is your central repository and the permanent home for every insight and source you have ever captured.
With a Group Library, multiple members can collaborate to build a shared intelligence asset.
Intelligent search finds the words you need when you need them, while the AI-powered dashboard uncovers long-term trends.
Disparate ideas can easily be transformed into coherent narratives by grouping insights into Collections.
A collection is a thematic workspace for combining individual insights and sources under a common theme. You can open a collection to external experts for input or export them as a downloadable crib sheet.
Content can live in multiple collections simultaneously, ensuring your intelligence remains fluid and never siloed.
Functionality
You can access Occasio through your web browser on mobile or desktop.
The 3-minute Library Tour is a great place to start.
If you prefer step-by-step guidance, take a look at our docs.
You can also navigate to app.occasio.cc and simply sign up for free to have a play around.
Only the Public Library is visible to everyone by default.
Your Personal Library is strictly for your eyes only, while a Group Library is shared exclusively with your team.
If you need to loop in external collaborators, you can easily share specific Insights and Sources using Collections. Think of a Collection as a curated subset of your Library that you can share with anyone, no membership required!
External collaborators do not count towards your Library membership limit.
You can invite as many external people as you like to contribute to your Collections. This is useful if you want to crowdsource insights from an event, for example.
Occasio is designed so you can reference virtually any source, from peer-reviewed journal articles to internal meeting notes.
If your source is available via URL, DOI, or an ISBN number, Occasio automatically extracts the relevant reference data so you can focus on the insights.
An insight can be virtually any textual information that can be communicated in 400 characters or less.
Think of an insight as a standalone "units of value" – one core idea per entry.
Occasio lets you crowdsource high-value insights from events, creating a shared "knowledge commons" for both speakers and audiences.
Think of it like a Slido Q&A – but built for valuable takeaways you actually want to reference in the future.
You can use Occasio as your research library, saving insights alongside references. You can save all the reference details you need to generate accurate citations and bibliographies.
We will be releasing specific support for common citation styles (APA, Harvard, MLA, IEEE) later this year.
Occasio is designed for collaboration, but you can absolutely use the platform as a personal knowledge management tool.
We are simpler than Obsidian and more specific than Notion. Which is especially handy if you do ever decide to share your notes with outside eyes.
You can easily download every Collection as a handy PDF document.
If you want to close your library or extract a CSV file of your data, please send us an email and we'll be happy to assist!
If you have a complaint regarding how your data is handled, processed, or secured by Occasio Insights Ltd, or wish to dispute a data rights decision, please follow our formal protocol:
